# Frustration signals

Rage clicks, dead clicks, and other signs a visitor was stuck.

## What counts as a frustration signal

ReplayPilot watches every recorded session for two signs that a visitor got stuck. You don't
turn this on. It runs automatically, for every session, on every plan.

- **Rage click.** Three or more clicks in the same spot (within about 40 pixels) within 1
second of each other. This usually means someone clicked something that didn't respond, and
clicked again, faster, hoping it would work.

- **Dead click.** A click that isn't followed by any change on the page within 2 seconds. This
usually means the visitor clicked something that looked interactive but wasn't, or something
that should have worked and broke.

ReplayPilot records a rage click once per burst, not once per click. Five fast clicks on the same
button count as one rage click, not five.

Both signals come from watching clicks and page changes, not from AI or machine learning. The
thresholds above are not configurable today. You can't change the click count, the timing window,
or the pixel radius.

## The Frustration page

The Frustration page groups every rage click and dead click by where it happened on your site,
so you can see which spots frustrate visitors most. Groups sort by how often a signal fires, then by
how recently.

Click into any group to jump to a session where it happened.

## Frustration signals inside a session

Open any session that had a rage click or dead click, and you'll see it marked in that
session's **What happened** timeline, alongside errors and other events. See [Replays](/docs/replays)
for how to read a session's timeline and play back what the visitor saw.

## Getting notified

You can set up an alert to get a webhook or email the moment a session has a frustration
signal. See [Alerts](/docs/alerts) for how to set that up.
