# Cookie Policy

Last updated August 12, 2026

Our Privacy Policy explains our principles for collecting, processing, and storing your information. This policy specifically explains how we use cookies on our own site and dashboard, and the choices you have to control them.

## The short version

- We set one cookie, to keep you signed in.
- No analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking cookies, here or on the sites that install our snippet.
- Block or delete it in your browser, and you'll sign out and stay signed out.
- Separately, and not via a cookie, we do record replays of this site with our own product, and don't start until you accept the notice on this page. See our [Privacy Policy](/policies/privacy) for what that involves.

## What are cookies?

Cookies are small pieces of data, stored in text files, that a website asks your browser to save when you load it, then reads back on later visits. They're widely used to "remember" you and your preferences, either for a single visit (a "session cookie") or across repeat visits (a "persistent cookie"). The site you're visiting can set a cookie itself ("first-party"), or someone else embedded on that site can, like an ad or analytics vendor ("third-party").

## How we use cookies

We use cookies for exactly one purpose: keeping you signed in. We don't set cookies for analytics, personalization, or advertising, on this site or on the sites that install our snippet.

## Where we place cookies

We set cookies in one place: the ReplayPilot dashboard, when you sign in. We don't set any on our marketing site before you have an account, and our recording snippet doesn't set cookies on the sites where it's installed.

## The cookie we use

CookiePurpose

replaypilot.session_tokenSet when you sign in. Keeps you signed in to your dashboard as you move between pages, instead of asking you to log in on every request. Valid for up to 7 days of use, and deleted the moment you sign out or it expires.

Sign in with Google or GitHub instead of a password, and the same cookie prefix also covers a couple of short-lived cookies, like replaypilot.state. Those exist only for the few seconds of the sign-in redirect, to confirm the request came back from the right place. They're gone before you land back on the dashboard.

That's the whole list, nothing abbreviated.

## Cookies on the sites that install our snippet

Our recording snippet doesn't set any cookies of its own. It records clicks, page changes, console errors, and network requests directly, without needing a cookie to identify a visitor.

## Third-party and advertising cookies

We don't run ads, and we don't use analytics or advertising cookies. No Google Analytics, no ad pixels, no third-party trackers, on this site or the sites you record with our snippet.

## Controlling cookies

Your browser lets you block or delete cookies from its settings, and most provide fine-grained control over how long they're stored. Our one cookie is what keeps you signed in, so blocking it means signing in again on every visit. There's no tracking benefit to disabling it, just a login inconvenience.

## Changes and questions

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll update the date at the top and email account holders. Questions about our use of cookies? Find the most relevant contact details in our [Privacy Policy](/policies/privacy).

We adapted the structure of this policy from Automattic's Cookie Policy, used under CC BY-SA 4.0.
